Arctic Islands Targeted by Rowboat Expedition

His plans to lead a major 700 kilometer rowboat expedition through the Canadian Arctic Islands all the way to the North Magnetic Pole have been shared by a British adventurer, and the planned voyage is being described as "one of the world's last great firsts" as far as polar explorations go.

Jock Wishart, the Scottish sailor, who had earlier been the leader of a record setting, 74 day circumnavigation of the Earth in a powerboat back in 1998, has shared that the will captain a six-person crew on August of 2011. He plans to journey through the ice covered waters between Resolute and the magnetic pole.

Magnetic pole is a moving target that is presently in the north of Nunavut's Ellef Ringnes Island.

Like all the other participants of the recently undertaken Arctic quests, the Row to the Pole adventurers would be gathering all the environmental information on their way to document the area's changing ice conditions.

The team's target, the North Magnetic Pole, has the reputation of migrating as per the fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field.
