New Trojan Circulates in Japan

Trend Micro has revealed that a new Trojan which threatens to post the internet history of infected users is circulating in Japan.

It aims to extort money from shame-faced fans of hentai-themed games.

Also, it cautions users not to download illegal copies of "over 18" hentai-themed games from file sharing networks to prevent from it surprised attack.

"I would go so far as to say that the Japanese attack linking name & shame, pornography and threats of legal action is the first of its kind", Rik Ferguson, Senior Security Advisor at Trend Micro told V3. co. uk.

However, the malware has initiated with the accumulation of information on the victim's computer including domain, OS version, file use history and IE favorites.

Trend Micro outlines that the Trojan forming the centerpiece of the attack transfers MP3 files on a victim's machine that are kept on sale online somewhere else at an high price of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Till date, 5,500 people have admitted to being entangled in similar scam, according to local paper Yomiuri Shimbun.
