Solar is a new comic, dark novel by Ian McEwan. It revolves around a character, the protagonist of the author, Michael Beard.

The author of the novel shared that the passage was driven by "being trapped in a stack over London". He also stated that this thought passed his mind even before he had stared writing the novel and that he still thinks of the same whenever he comes to a place like Vancouver. The author landed at Vancouver only a few hours before he expressed all this with Post.

The novel pictures some of the greedy people who are hungry for women, drink, fame and power and that the characters in the novel are heading towards an unexpected trip for saving the world.

In the novel it has also been depicted that the lead character is unable to save his fifth marriage. The outset of the novel also explains how he becomes helpless for reducing his weight and how across the ten years, that has been explained in the novel, his waistline keeps on expanding.

Although, the book has a touch of bleakness, the author is very optimistic about the same.
