The payment of big bonuses is being criticized a lot by the Alberta Liberals. It has been reported that the top executives are being paid extravagantly for their services and it is being highly demanded that these huge payments must be stopped.
According to the documents made out by the Liberals, the AHS has paid approximately $472,000 to eight top officials in the year 2008 and 2009.
It has been confirmed that these executives were paid the compensations which were not even justified on the parameters which measures the performance of the individuals during the transition year. Just because of the contractual obligations, the health care authorities paid them the huge sum. This has raised an alarm among the taxpayers who are demanding more transparency and regulation.
The ability of the individual, according to his performance, has not been assessed properly and accurately, which does not set an example of a good business model.
Board Chairman Ken Hughes said, "We're not competing with University Avenue in Toronto and we don't think we have to set the highest compensation in the country to attract talent."
There is a new model which will be implemented for the top executives and to pose an example, Duckett's contract has been posted on the official website of AHS.
