Carers across Redbridge are being presented with special health checks as part of a latest method being piloted in the region.
The Caring for Carers scheme will prove to be advantageous for almost 600 inhabitants who offer honorary care and support for a loved one.
HS Redbridge has been able to secure a 759,000 Pound funding to facilitate the checks for almost 600 carers.
It is designed with an aim at giving carers, who take care of members of their family, neighbors or partners or even friends, who may else be hospitalized, the opportunity to think about their personal health and get access to training, and counseling.
Delegates from Redbridge Carers Support Service and Outer North East London Community Services will perform the checks, which will include dealing with any welfare concerns and referring carers to further services.
Carer, Helen Coughlan, of Roding Lane North, Woodford Bridge, who takes care of her severely handicapped brother, said that the financial support was a constructive move.
John Coombes, of Redbridge Pensioner's Forum stated that social services have got to make sure that the carer has complete knowledge of what to do and that they have the tools to carry out the services.
