At the Mobile Marketing Association Forum, Asia Pacific event held in Singapore last week, a nerd bumped into Jeff Merkel, Vice-President and Managing Director, APLA, of the world's biggest mobile advertising network, Admob.
The mobile data that Admob has been gathering is in fact very interesting.
According to data released by AdMob, during the month of March, India is the second-biggest mobile market following the US, with over 1 billion ads served in March 2010.
After the iPhone clashes in Singapore late last year, that observed all three mobile network operators in Singapore selling iPhones with low-cost data plans, Admob witnessed a frenzied augment in ads being served in Singapore, from January 2010 and served over100 million ads only in Singapore during March 2010.
These types of numbers still signify the rapid growth in mobile advertising across the globe and the affect that one device can have on the whole ecology.
This is pretty exceptional if you look at Singapore's total population of just 4.8 million.
Other intriguing facts that the geek got from the Admob’s February 2010 report included that Nokia is the leader in large growing markets such as India and Indonesia for both smartphones and non-smartphones.
