German inflation dips to 1.1 per cent in December

Wiesbaden, Germany - German inflation slowed to 1.1 per cent in December, mainly as a result in a steep fall in the price of fuel, the Federal Statistics Office Tuesday.

The preliminary figures brought the annual inflation rate for Germany to 2.6 per cent in 2008, the highest since 1994 when 2.8 per cent was recorded.

The November inflation rate was 1.4 per cent, while the rate for October was 2.4 per cent and for September 2.9 per cent. (dpa)
