Morningstar completes acquisition of InvestData

Morningstar, Inc., a leading provider of independent investment research, has completed its acquisition of South Africa's InvestData (Proprietary) Ltd, for undisclosed amount.

InvestData is fund information provider and its acquisition will increase Morningstar's global managed funds database by adding South African and Namibian sector and give it a greater presence in South Africa and neighboring countries.

The deal was first announced on November 21.

Nasdaq-listed Morningstar offers an extensive line of Internet, software, and print-based products and services for individuals, financial advisors, and institutions. The company provides data on more than 290,000 investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles.

The company has operations in 19 countries and minority ownership positions in companies based in three other countries.

Earlier this month, Morningstar has acquired Tenfore Systems Ltd. for £13.5 million in cash, or about USD21.0 million, subject to post-closing adjustments.

The scrip of Morningstar settled the day at $33.51, after hitting intraday high of $33.74.
