It has been told by the retired military officers that school lunches are a threat to the national security. According to them the school lunches have made the children unfit for the militaries physical fitness standards and the employment was in danger.
The reports released on Tuesday said that more than 9 million young adults or 27% of the population if America between the age of 17 to 24 were overweight. Now the officers are planning to promote a bill that would be focusing on making the nation's schools lunch healthier.
They said that in the past 15 years the weight problems had become worse and were resulting in the rejection of recruitments.
Retired Navy Rear Adm. James Barnett Jr., a member of the officers group said that the obesity could affect the future of the recruitment goals. He also mentioned that they have currently met the recruitment goals.
"When over a quarter of young adults are too fat to fight, we need to take notice", said Barnett.
He also mentioned that in 2030 the national security would be totally dependent on turning around child obesity rates.
