Man’s Testicle Removed Mistakenly

Dr. Sulieman Al Hourani, who was hired to remove an epididymal cyst on a patient's right testis, severed the whole of it, at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, Greater Manchester.

The incident took place in the year 2007 and was recounted during a General Medical Council hearing, in which Al Hourani is charged of misconduct as well as stealing medication. The nurse who was assisting Hourani in the operation shared that she turned her back on the patient to get a stitch. And when she turned again, the doctor had removed the testicle mistakenly.

Al Hourani managed to steal two boxes of dihydrocodeine from a treatment room, about a month after the botched surgery. He was dismissed after conducting an investigation into the matter.

The GMC hearing has the authority to ban a doctor from practicing in the U. K. Dr. Al Hourani, is now practicing in Jordan, from where he received his medical credentials. However, he is not attending the hearing.
