A suspected incident of surgical-equipment tampering at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops has reportedly been unveiled by an RCMP investigation that is hoped to re-analyze past cases at the facility.
Brown is reported to accompany RCMP Staff Sgt. Garry Kerr at a press conference Tuesday morning.
However, Kerr seemed to be restrained to divulge any further details, citing an investigation still in its early stages.
"What was discovered last week was so blatant and so obvious there is no question somebody had taken the item and tampered with it", Kerr added.
The tool is reported to be found during safety checks under the hospital's system. Kerr posted that it's a bit early to discern whether the culprit is a staff member or an outsider.
Brown claimed that the tools are sterilized in a controlled area operated by more than 60 staff.
In addition, he said that the investigation will not affect the surgeries at the hospital and seeks the public to be aware of the fact that no patient's safety was compromised.
