Apple Granted its Pulitzer Prize Winning Cartoonist a Reprieve

It has been reported that on Tuesday, a NewsToons political satire application for the iPhone which was earlier rejected was now available at iTunes. This was after Apple approved its Pulitzer Prize winning inventor a stay of execution.

Mark Fiore a well-known autonomous satire cartoonist for San Francisco Chronicle had put forward his NewToons application to App Store back in December.

At that time, Apple had discarded the NewsToons application on the grounds that it had dishonored the iconic California Company’s developer regulations by lambasting public officials.

This month, Newstoons creator Mark Fiore was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his work, triggering a story about a champion of the prominent award being rejected by Apple.

It has been reported that Apple called Fiore and encouraged him to resubmit his NewsToons application iTunes. On Friday, Fiore submitted his work and it was quickly accepted for the App Store.

Apple Chief Executive, Steve Jobs was in public cited as saying that Fiore’s application which was rejected in the beginning was a mistake.

The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper quoted Fiore as saying it felt "weird" to actually get an extraordinary treatment since he had won a Pulitzer.
