Amazon. com and Netflix are the top two retail web sites in terms of customer satisfaction - this was concluded by a survey of the Top 40 online retailers, by ForeSee Results and FGI Research! These were the only two sites that scored 84 out of 100, on the University of Michigan's American Customer Satisfaction Index.

The other sites that found their place among the top 10 included Apple, NewEgg. com and Walmart. com; while and Sony's Web sites and Circuit City were placed near the bottom.

The survey reports suggest that, even during the ongoing phase of recession, consumers are quite likely to make online purchases from retailers who provide big discounts, and make shopping an easy and hassle-free experience.

According to Larry Freed, President and CEO ForeSee, "In a recession, knowing that improving customer satisfaction with your website can engender that kind of loyalty and purchase intent is like money in the bank. Too many e-retailers are ignoring this crucial metric, and it shows in the results of our study."

Larry said that "Expectations were high" for discounts this holiday season, as the consumers were expecting good bargains owing to the slipping economy. Earlier customers generally rushed up with their orders, fearing that the retailers would run out of the items they wished to shop for. But, this time around, buyers "just waited until the price bottomed out", and the sites that offered the best deals benefited!
