Study Finds England to be the Least Patriotic
Study Finds England to be the Least Patriotic

As per the report, only one-in-three people have knowledge of when St. George's Day is and just 10% said that they would feel comfortable to fly the flag of England.

English people rated their general level of national pride as 5.8 out of 10, as contrasted with 7.1 out of 10 for Scots, 7.06 for the Welsh and 6.72 for the Irish.

The Netherlands was found to be the most patriotic nation in the European Continent with a rating of 7.18.

One-in-five English individuals blamed a broken society for a lack of pride, while one-in-four said that political correctness made them feel ashamed about their Englishness.

Stephen Garnett, the Editor of This England magazine, which commissioned the study, stated that it was extremely disappointing to see that English people are afraid of displaying the St. George's Cross on the nation's patron saint's day.

It was pretty appalling to see some of the results, mainly the amount of people who do not fly the flag because of fear of being judged.

This survey questioned approximately 6,000 residents across Europe about their feelings towards their respective nation.

It is rather disappointing to see people unable to express their views just because of certain faults that may be there in different aspects of the nation's systems.

There is no such country where its system or people are flawless. Whatever it may be, an individual ought to take pride for whichever nation he belongs to.

As a matter of respect, English people must show more concern towards their nation and help further in bringing improvement or correct the shortcoming that may be there in a nation's system. Stephen Garnett stated that he intends to get back the flag from extremists by asking as many people as possible, no matter what background they come from, to fly it.
