On Thursday, April 22, Lee County in Florida marks Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary. There are numerous other Earth Day events taking place around the region.

Verizon Wireless desires to help in honoring the earth and simultaneously, help people who have been victims of domestic violence. You can recycle old mobile phones at any close by Verizon store. They will be revamped and given in donation to domestic violence refuge homes.

Goodwill is commemorating the day by assisting you recognize the importance of Mother Nature and necessity of its preservation. It is hosting a shred day at their North Fort Myers facility on Bayline Drive.

The event is going to start at 9 am and will end at 4 pm. Anything that you bring will be destroyed and all the scraps will be taken for recycling, turning them into paper products.

Littleton Elementary is going to dedicate an ‘Outdoor Learning Center’ not just for students but also for the group of people to come and obtain educational hikes with the help of Florida's ecological system program.

In Charlotte Province, a group of art students from Port Charlotte High will exhibit a unique art collection that they have.
