Faulty Security Update on Window PCs by McAfee Troubled Businesses

The mistakenly termed part of Windows as virus, by a security update has created problems for thousands of PCs globally.

The PCs started to restart endlessly after this update was ended across by security firm McAfee, corporate customers of which have been found to be the worst hit, while some reported problems.

The faulty updates affected 8,000 of its 25,000 computers, informed the University of Michigan.

The security firm has apologized for the blunder and has also released a solution that will make sure the PCs start normally.

It was also complained by the SANS Internet Storm Center that it received reports regarding the trouble that "networks with thousands of down machines and organizations" had to shut down the PCs till everything was back on track.

On the other hand, McAfee stated that the incident has shocked "less than one half of one percent of our enterprise accounts globally" and that the update was fixed within hours.

It has been reportedly said that McAfee's 5958 update was misguidedly identified as the wecorl. a virus, the Windows svchost. exe file was used by many operating systems to keep functioning and therefore it caused many PCs to crash.

The reports have also stated that the PCs that were inside businesses operating Windows XP with service pack 3 were the ones that had to face the problem the most.
