The recent pictures of two nurses throwing yogurt and drinks over each other, which are posted on the social networking site Facebook, have been condemned by campaigners. The photographs were clearly taken in a clinical area of the hospital where patients would be in close proximity.
Healthcare Commission has condemned Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust for high death rates and poor standards of care. Patients there are left in their own excrement and are made to drink from flower vases for they were deprived of drinks.
The hospital which is run by the trust is responsible for the deaths of up to 1,200 patients. The pictures have been taken in May, when the group posed for pictures after the food fight. The pictures might have been taken as a part of celebrations to mark one of them leaving for a job in the private sector.
Julie Bailey, from campaign group Cure the NHS, said, “This is just dreadful behavior from these nurses, it is so unprofessional. This is the standard and the quality of nursing that we have had to suffer”.
The most annoying thing is that when some of the patients died of starvation, the nurses were found throwing food around and also put their pictures on the Facebook.
Antony Sumara, Chief Executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that they will not tolerate unprofessional behavior by any of their staff.
