Rapper DMX Pleads Guilty To Drug And Theft Charges

According to Arizona prosecutors, rapper DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple drug possession, theft and animal cruelty charges, and now faces a minimum of 90-days in prison. Charged with one count of animal cruelty, one count of theft, and one count each of felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug, pleading guilty settles three criminal cases against him in Maricopa County Superior Court. As part of the deal, Simmons will not be allowed to own animals or possess any fire-arms.

Earlier this year in May, sheriff deputies raiding his home, found carcasses of dogs, including some malnourished pit bulls, and arrested him on drug and animal cruelty charges. In addition, he has also been charged for giving a false name and Social Security number, while undergoing treatment in the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale , Ariz. , in an attempt to avoid paying the bill.

Simmons, 38, rapper turned actor, with a home near Phoenix , for the past year, has been battling legal woes in Arizona . To be sentenced on 30th January 2009, till then DMX remains in custody.
