Research Reveals, American College Students Addicted to Social Media

A research conducted by the University of Maryland, it has been concluded that most of the college students are found to be suffering from addiction of social media. The study suggests that American college students are very much in a habit of being surrounded by the information and the connections that they can access through social networking media.

This study was concluded on the basis of self-reporting that was done by students who were engaged in some unnatural and unrealistic behaviors.

The students who were observed in the study shared their feelings on what they would feel if they are forced to stay without any of the media. The students said that in such a situation, they would feel madly craving, very anxious, awfully antsy, unhappy, nervous and uneasy. These are also the symptoms which are found in people who are drug addicts.

According to the study, such students cannot practically live without being unable to be without media links, they are unwilling to abstain themselves from the same as well.

As of now, the addiction of internet and media has not been formally termed as psychiatric disorder, but it comes as an issue of concern that many students have been gripped by addictions of media like text messages, TV shows, and Facebook.
