Every single day we read or hear about one medical marvel or another, but while most of these are still in the experimental stages or something that worked on animals and might not be successful in the case of human beings, there are some which actually manage to surprise everyone.
And the latest marvel to come to the forefront has been a man receiving a full facial transplant, complete with a new nose, lips, teeth and cheekbones. Now that's a wonder!
The grueling 24 hour surgery was undertaken by Doctors in Spain, more specifically at Barcelona's Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. A team of 30 medical practitioners came together to work on the man's distorted face.
Although the name of the 30 year old man has not been revealed, it has been shared that he is a farmer and had, about a decade back, accidently shot himself in the face. Since then, he had been living a reclusive and depressing life, with no friends, no proper eating, breathing and drinking. Seems like all the bad days are now a thing of the past for the man, who will now be able regain most of life's every day, normal functions.
Although there have been face transplant surgeries before, this has been the first time that it has been carried out on such an extensive scale, and it definitely makes us proud to realize that we live in times when almost nothing is impossible.
Medical science has managed to make amazing progress, and many believe that things have only just begun. With things like full facial transplants and upcoming vaccination patches that would keep injections and needles away (yes, that was recently shared as well), already here, we can only begin to imagine what is in store for the future!
