Goldman Sachs Group Incorporation recently released few e-mails along with 25 internal documents to provide a justification to the Senate panel. The panel disclosed some messages which comprise the boasting done by the Goldman executives, claiming about the money the corporation earned, even during the market implosion during 2007.
Goldman declared in the past that they did not make any profits due to the mortgage meltdown, but the emails exchanged show a different story.
The subcommittee will be grilling Swenson, Tourre and Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein. The Senate is proposing a complete overhaul of the financial regulations and stresses on the financial system to be more transparent. The suggestion is not welcomed by the Republican leaders.
Tourre has been reported of selling and discussing investments in his e-mails and because of this move, Goldman has been in the glare by the SEC, which has filed civil fraud against the investment bank. They have been alleged for misleading two investors namely- IKB Deutsche Industriebank and ACA Management LLC.
Goldman strongly opposes all the charges and states that it will fight back for its goodwill. Goldman spokesman Samuel Robinson said, "Obviously, the content of the e-mails is highly embarrassing, but we've found no evidence of wrongdoing”.
