Royal College of Nursing Organizing Annual Conference, Job Cuts Top on the Agend

According to reports, cut in jobs is one of the main issues on the agenda of the NHS, at the Annual Conference of Nurses, which is to take place at Bournemouth. There will be more than 4000 nurses at the event.

The General Secretary of Royal College of Nursing, Peter Carter, issued a word of caution over the weekend that the demand to save money in the NHS posed a threat to jobs.

A survey conducted online of 287 nurses, before its four-day meeting revealed that the pressure is already being experienced.

It has been stated that 9 in 10 of those participated in the poll opined that patient care suffered in previous months.

Many hospital wards are also functioning with a 13% lesser staff on an average. This is much lesser than what is officially required. In such a scenario the cuts will turn out to be massively devastating.

Peter Carter evinced, “Despite assurances that the NHS budget will be protected, the reality is that trusts are making deep and dangerous cuts to staff numbers now, with further cuts planned for the future”.
