Eating Right Reduces the Risk of Skin Cancer
Skin Cancer

From the new studies it has been seen that in addition to sunscreen, foods that we eat also take part in reducing the risk of skin cancer.

One type of cancer that has been seen is non-melanoma, in which basal cell carcinoma reaches the deep layers of epidermis and the other type of cancer is known as melanoma, in which malignant tumors are formed by the cells that make melanin.

It has been noticed that the 90% of non-melanoma cancers and 66% of melanomas cancers happen because of too much sun exposure. According to the statistics, the fair people are at a higher risk of getting this disease.

In Canada, the skin cancer cases are increasing at a very high rate. It has been observed that between 1970 and 2000 the cases have doubled.

The UVB rays constitute 5% of the total amount of ultraviolet light produced by the sun. Because of these rays an inflammatory environment is created in the skin cells, which allow them to change into cancer cells.

The foods that are proved beneficial are green tea, high antioxidant fruit contents and certain types of molecules found in large quantities of vegetables.
