Experts Hopeful of New prostate Cancer Vaccine

A new vaccine called Provenge is in its testing phase and once it is approved, it will be finally on the counters to fight back against cancer. It has been made for the people, who are at the last stage of prostate cancer. The utility of the vaccine is to improve the immune system of the people who are struggling against it.

It has been stated by the City of Hope researchers that out of all the available and evolving vaccines, Provenge has shown good results.

It is being hoped that the vaccine will help approximately 100,000 men who are at the last stage of the prostate cancer which spreads in their whole body. So far, the vaccine has shown improvisation by increasing the median survival time by at least four months. The men who participated in the study, survived for 26 months rather than 22 months.

It has been estimated by experts that one course will value around $50,000 to $75,000. Doctors took the tissue samples from the tumor of the patients, which was later on delivered to the vaccine manufacturers.

Prostate cancer in the advanced stages responds to the treatments weakly.
