Most American Adults Seek Information on Government Spending and Actions

A recent study conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project has revealed that around 40% of the adults in America look for the information on Government spending and activities online.

The poll conducted by Pew found that of the 1,600 people considered, around 23% admitted that they have been using the internet for knowing the amount of money drawn out from the stimulus bill for various activities.

In addition, 22% said that they go online to know the text of the bills while 16% admitted that they access the websites like Data. gov, essentially known for providing Government data details.

A research specialist at the Pew Internet & American Life and the co0author of the study, Aaron Smith, said that the interaction within the Government bodies gets accelerated by the data.

"Online citizens can—and often do—'go to the source' in their efforts to monitor government activities, evaluate the impacts of new legislation, and track the flow of their tax dollars", he added.

In total, around 82% of the people surveyed, were found to be seeking information regarding public policies.
