It has been reported that a 16-year-old girl was left in grave state after she took MDPV, which was of late reclassified as prohibited, after the debate over the damage caused by recreational drug mephedrone.
It is said that on April16, stimulant MDPV aka methylenedioxypyrovalerone had become a class-B drug, the drug causes rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure and sweating.
On Sunday morning the teen, from the Tadcaster area of North Yorkshire, was serious at York District Hospital.
It has been said that one night before getting admitted she had taken the drug and was put on life support to provide heart rate a chance to pick up to the normal level.
According to North Yorkshire Police, another teen, a 14-year-old boy, had flown into a rage after taking the same drug. He started making threats with a knife before being arrested for violation.
Today a 17-year-old local teenager was arrested for supplying the drug to both teenagers.
North Yorkshire Police described MDPV as similar to amphetamine - known as speed - and MDMA. It is normally snorted or swallowed but some users have injected it.
Chief Inspector, Richard Anderson, stated, "They are clearly, very harmful and could easily have proved fatal on this occasion. This is precisely why they are now illegal".
