Ontario Prime Minister, Dalton McGuinty said that this fall, new sex-education lessons will be introduced, however, it is going to be stripped down.
Just four days after a reaction strained the Government to put on hold the program, the Premier stated that parts of it can be retrieved. Sexual education is only one of 12 extensive topics that the new curriculum is going to cover.
Until the existing rewrite, the province's health and physical education program had continued to be unaltered for almost 12 years.
The new deed consisted of more precise discussion of a series of issues and started with identification of body parts, as well as the genitals, in Grade 1. It also included mention of homosexuality in Grade 3 and of vaginal and anal intercourse in Grade 7.
The alterations had been quietly released in the month of January and did not receive any notice for three months on a Government website.
The subject promptly exploded after religious groups noticed it, condemning the Government of interfering in parents' responsibilities and being two-faced.
Catholic schools that are publically funded did not give a nod to the introduction of this subject in the new curriculum.
