The details and demonstrations were being offered by the top executives of Salesforce. com and VMware, about their new VMforce partnership for bringing Java application development to the cloud.

In order to discuss about how developers can use VMware's existing Springforce Tool Suite to build enterprise Java applications that run on Salesforce. com's cloud computing platform, Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of Salesforce. com, and Paul Maritz, President and CEO of VMware, appeared on a stage San Francisco together.

The two companies have planned to sell and support a new enterprise Java cloud, called VMforce, jointly. According to VMware and Salesforce. com, this will provide an open path to cloud computing.

Companies are anticipating ways to adopt technology that allows them to act more like a service provider within their organizations, according to Maritz. He said, “This is not about reducing costs. It's about new ways of doing business. Marc and I agree, we need a new way to deliver IT as a service”.

VMware acquired SpringSource, in August, to help Java developers to write applications for virtualized environments, which headed the Spring open source community of Java developers. About 50% of all Java apps are developed using the Spring Framework.
