The shadow car minister has disclosed about the first time initiative, which will be taken over by Conservatives to help and support the dementia care and other health programs. The money meant for NHS funding will be protected to help the needy.
Stephen O'Brien took the astonishing pledge after various reports were published about the primary care trusts, which will not be held accountable for the usage pattern of the specific funding in order to initiate the strategies to help the people suffering from dementia.
O'Brien further commented that not only the NHS budgets will be ring – fenced but they will also be increased on yearly basis. The aim is to make sure that the money is not wasted on the unnecessary services and is spent on the services, which have been designated and is not absorbed by any particular inefficiency.
It has been reported that 89 percent of the total allocation of £50m, which was done in the year 2009-2010 were not spent as they were planned by PCTs.
Andrew Chidgey, head of policy and public affairs at the Alzheimer's Society said, "Dementia care is still a postcode lottery. O'Brien's proposals to ring-fence budgets are therefore very welcome”.
