Paula Snowden, Chief Executive of The Quit Group that runs the free Quitline service said that seeing a 2% drop in smoking rate is very encouraging.
In fact, it means that almost 50,000 smokers have been able to kick their habit of smoking, without much ado. It means that, it is not only those 50,000 individuals, who have quit smoking, are benefitting from this, but also the families of these individuals, who see this as a positive sign.
New Zealanders have shown that they are really serious about quitting the smoking habit and are proving it too. They seem to have realized that quitting smoking will only benefit keeping their health fine, and keep them smelling nice, so that when they are approached by women or kids, they do not have to worry about not keeping a mouth freshener.
The Quit Group signed up no less than 56,000 smokers. A lot of them have successfully come out victorious, while some could not control their temptation of smoking. However, they have decided to quit, which is the most important step.
Quitting smoking is not easy, but the group is here to help.
