Better Value for Money in the Health Services

A new bill will be presented in the Parliament of New Zealand, which will focus on better value for money by the Health Minister, Tony Ryall. This bill will include the recommendations, forwarded by the ministerial review group with a motto for a better value for money in the public health sector.

The main aim of this bill will be to reduce bureaucracy and duplication, along with national and regional cooperation in the health sector.

Some of the changes will emphasize on quality improvement and structural changes, even with the Health Quality and Safety Commission. The non-elected DBH members will be able to get appointment with the elected DHB members. This will aim at effective and efficient health services.

Modification of the DHB's functions and objectives will ensure much effective results. Application of this bill will also help in arbitration and mediation of powers, so that the application is wider.

It will focus on the national, regional and local necessities. It will administer a great system of collaboration along with procurement and supporting of the public health services. This amendment will support the condition of shared administration.

Tony Ryall also stated that the poor regional and national performances are due to duplication, which led to the financial crisis.
