Singapore's envoy, Anil Kumar Nayyar will be paying Romania a visit with a convoy of legal experts for investigation of the case of Dr. Silviu Ionescu, a former ambassador of Romania.
Allotted as a special diplomat for Romania, the resident of Brussels is all set to head to Romania, early next month.
The evidence in Dr. Silviu Ionescu's case needs to be evaluated, before the start of the trail. He has been charged of hitting three pedestrians on the Bukit Panjang Road in Romania, last year and fleeing from the spot.
Aurelian Neagu, Ambassador of Romania presided over a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the delay in the proceedings in the case and so to hasten the trail, Singapore appointed Anil Kumar Nayyar, to look into the case.
Four weeks have already passed and the Romanian Government has still not visited Singapore to review the case details and so Singapore has taken the lead.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Romania's holdup in initiating the investigation "fuelled speculation about Romania's seriousness and intentions".
The case proceedings cannot start unless Dr. Silviu Ionescu's crime is thoroughly investigated and confirmed.
