Sky TV to Launch First HD News Channel in UK

High definition is expected to be new format, which will be used by broadcasters to sign up more and more users for their services. There is already a lot of competition between broadcasting companies to hook more users for their services. It is estimated that with the advance in technology and falling prices of LCD TVs, many more people will be able to enjoy HD television on their televisions.

Britain's BSkyB is going to launch Sky News HD on the eve of Polling Day for general elections in the coming weeks. Media experts fell that the timing is very crucial for these services and the channel is smartly launching its services at a crucial time.

The channel will be going live at 9pm on the evening of 6th May. It will provide a repeat telecast of the nightly news program so viewers can watch the evening news in the morning without missing anything. This will be the first High Definition news channel in the United Kingdom.

All the necessary upgrades have already been done by the broadcasters to give the viewers a better overall viewing experience. Thi9s launch follows the highly successful launch of Sky Sports, Sky Entertainment and Sky Movie HD channels.

More than two million TV viewers are already paying extra for HD TV service. Sky TV claims that it gives customers more options than any other broadcaster in the market.
