American consumer electronics giant Best Buy has a new shop in the Lakeside shopping complex in Thurrock, Essex, which aimed to tempt buyers in with 32-inch HD-ready LCD TVs for less than £180 and a Wii Black bundle for under £100. About more than 1,000 people queued from 4am will be its first customers.
For football lovers, Best Buy's UK launch day makes a promise of a full refund on any TV over £499, if it is bought before 5th June only if England wins the World Cup final.
Best Buy is widely known for its staff, nicknamed the 'Blueshirts' and the tech-savvy sidekicks, known as 'The Geek Squad'. Paul Antoniadis, CEO of Best Buy Branded Operations revealed that their focus is to help customers in making buying technology easy, thrilling and interactive.
He said, “Our Blueshirts and Geek Squad Agents have been working tirelessly to help customers find what they came in for. Our amazing ‘Grand Opening’ deals – including the popular Toshiba 32” HD Ready LCD TV at £179.99 – have been flying out the door and we have plenty more in stock”.
He added that the electronics retailer is anticipating welcoming more customers.
