NHS bosses are revealed to be in secret plans, seeking to axe thousands of jobs for doctors and nurses soon after the election, despite Labor’s promising that it would shield front line services if it retained the power.
Health authorities have reportedly selected thousands of training posts to be sacked as a part of cuts proposed by the current Government.
In the East of England 500 plus posts for trainee nurses, midwives and hospital medics are thought to be sacked by 2012, as per the plans.
Hospitals across the South West seek to axe280 posts for junior hospital doctors.
Dr. Peter Carter severely rebuked the secrecy besieging the decisions, which were not intended to be made public anytime before the election, which he posted would pose as a strong blow on the faces of politicians’ repeated claims that they would do everything for the protection of front line services.
Health authorities revealed to go ahead with a 15% cut in the national training budget – a loss of £650 million a year – between now and 2014.
The SHA which covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk warns that the public sector is steeping into a period of sustained economic recession, reflecting significant aftermaths for the NHS workforce.
