Ruler of Gulf emirate dies in London

Dubai - The ruler of the emirate of Umm al-Quwain, one of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed al-Mullah, died on Friday in London, local media reported.

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, declared a one-week state of mourning. All government institutions and ministries will also be closed for three days starting Friday, the state news agency WAM reported.

The causes of Sheikh Rashid's death were not immediately available. (dpa)
