Volkswagen has launched its new in diesel engine range. It is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder TDI. This car was paraded at the recent 31st International Vienna Motor Symposium. The European customers would be receiving the latest Polo Bluemotion this month.
The car has a small capacity of 1.2 TDI and has only three cylinders. It comprises of 74 bhp and has a torque of 180 Nm at 2,000 rpm. This car would prove would prove as the European Car of the Year.
It was explained by VW that less cylinders meant less weight and friction power loss. It also said that it gave out the best performance, maximum acoustic comfort and weight reduction without actually decreasing the engine's thermodynamic effectiveness.
VW said that the earlier gen Polo Bluemotion's claimed figures were 26.3 km/l that is 3.8 litres per 100 km and this car was projected to attain 30.3 km/l that is 3.3 litres per 100 km. They also said that that car released only 87 g/km of CO2.
The only reason why Europeans have not enthusiastically embrace hybrid technology was because of these cars.
