Opera version 10.53 Fixes a Critical Security Hole

Opera version 10.53 has been released for Windows and Mac OS X, but is has fixed a critical security hole which enabled an attacker to distantly inject and run malevolent code.

According to The H Security, "The hole allows crafted web pages to inject and run code on a PC. It would only be necessary to visit such a web page for the vulnerability to be exploited".

After Opera rated the vulnerability as "extremely severe", the users of versions of Opera older than 10.53 on PC and Mac OS X were recommended to update their browser without delay. The company's website shows the browser's update.

The update guarded the browser from remote attackers by making multiple calls to a document modification script as well as crashing the browser, which would permit them to insert a malicious code onto the user's system.
