Ankara - Around 5,000 people gathered in Istanbul Friday to protest Israel's continued military actions in the Gaza Strip, NTV television reported.
Watched by riot police on high alert, the protesters gathered near Istanbul's Beyazit Mosque following Friday prayers. Television footage showed the protesters waving Palestinian flags and holding placards denouncing Israel.
The Turkish government has strongly condemned Israel's actions in Gaza and has called for an immediate ceasefire. (dpa)
