Illinois’ Ad Campaign Promotes Smoking Ban

The State of Illinois's new media campaign has television and radio ads. highlighting the success of its smoke-free Act. The act which became law, just a year ago, bans smoking in enclosed public places, workplaces, government vehicles, including smoking within
15-ft. of any public place or workplace entrance.

Joe Burton, the owner of Burton 's Tap in Langleyville, Christian County , featuring in a 30-second ad., tell us that the smoking ban has not had an adverse effect on his restaurant and bar business.

In fact, Minzer, who owns a bar says the inside has never been cleaner, ever since the smoking ban went into effect, but the same can't be said about the outside, which is a mess of cigarette butts in the parking lot.

Both owners hope that with the advent of the new year, the ban will only block smoking, not business.

Closing state parks to pay for propaganda?

What a joke. there are many small "mom and pop" bars ignoring the ban. No one is complaining. The main source of complaints is from neighbors of bars that comply.
