It has been reported that the Housing Board (HDB) has been inundated with applications for its Punggol Emerald and Punggol Waves projects.
It reveals that by 5pm yesterday, it witnessed nearly 8,967 offers for 1,429 flats been lodged for the build- to-order (BTO) developments.
Figures from the Housing and Development Board's website uncover that there were nearly six times more applicants received compared to the number of units on offer at Punggol Waves and Punggol Emerald.
Applications for the estates, which were both opened last month, reportedly closed yesterday at midnight.
Four-room flats witnessed the maximum demand, with 4,648 applications for just 609 flats up for grabs - more than seven applying for each unit. While, five-roomers witnessed a demand of more than six applicants each, with 2,810 applying for 431 flats.
Housing analysts speculate that the intense interest reflected that the demand for public housing remains high, primarily for new flats.
In addition, they posted that this level of demand points on the HDB's previous launch at Sengkang and and Sembawang in March where 5,015 bids were recorded for nearly 828 new flats.
