More signs are witnessed to have emerged depicting signs that economy is recuperating well with the employment figures available registering a steep climb sharply for the North East District.
Community Development Council (CDC) has reported to have witnessed surging number of jobseekers living in north-east Singapore to return to the workplace again.
The North-east CDC on Tuesday uncovered that nearly 1,200 residents revealed to discover new jobs during the first quarter of this year, marking a rise from 488 people in the same period in 2009 - a spectacular 150 per cent rise.
"We have also seen signs that the job seekers are not too choosy now and they are beginning to accept jobs as the offers come by. Most of them are willing to take up some of the work that they previously shun", quoted, Mayor of the North East District Teo Ser Luck.
The placement rate registered a climb by 27 per cent against the figures posted last quarter of 2009, with 648 residents finding jobs in February alone.
It is reported that there were net 3,115 openings, 79 per cent more than what was available in the last quarter of 2009.
The North East CDC posted that it has been recording more requests from employers for help in recruitment, especially in the Logistics and Manufacturing sectors.
