Vodafone Hutchison Australia Looking to Cur "3" Brand, No Final Timeline for the

In the year up-to 31 December, 2009, the merged mobile carrier Vodafone Hutchison Australia cut as many as 390 jobs, and today the company shared that it is still looking to eventually cut out the "3" brand in favor of its stalwart Vodafone moniker. Although, no timelines about when the move can be expected have yet been shared.

The major telecommunications firm was formed after the merger of Vodafone's Australian unit and Hutchison Telecommunications, and still created the country's third-biggest mobile carrier which boasted combined revenue of some $4 Billion and as many as 6.9 million customers.

"We have previously outlined our intention to move towards one brand, the Vodafone brand, as our long-term brand. This year, we will be taking some steps towards this goal, including selling both brands in many of our exclusive distribution channels and beginning to reposition the Vodafone brand", said VHA Chief Executive Nigel Dews.

The first ever indications from Vodafone that the 3 brand might just be abandoned came back in the August of 2009 when the company announced its first quarter results and it was announced that in due course, the company would begin to market all its products under the single Vodafone brand.

When the move will actually happen still remains to be seen.
