Liver Disease More Common Among Poor in Asia
Liver Disease

People in developing countries are more prone to liver disease, according to reports. It is especially dangerous as poverty is more widespread and these people cannot easily get access to proper healthcare services. Doctors felt that a lot needs to be done to ensure that people suffering from these problems can get quick and affordable treatment.

Experts feel that improving access to healthcare services is the single most important thing required. It may be mentioned that Hepatitis B and C are the most common liver problems in Asia. The irony is that most of the patients suffering from these are poor people.

A lot of people suffering from these diseases are not able to get the right type of treatment. There are very few clinics available for the treatment of liver diseases across Asia. Even private clinics are not present to treat liver problems in patients.

A lot of liver transplant centers are required to treat these patients, stressed health experts. It has also been found in a recent study by Mayo Clinic that proper treatment can reduce the chances of a liver transplant in these patients.

It was also revealed that Hepatitis B is the major reason of liver damage which can eventually lead to the need of a liver transplant. Apart from that Hepatitis C and other factors were also responsible for these transplants.
