Blizzard Entertainment's next-generation online gaming platform, called Battle. net, will integrate with Facebook to offer players an enhanced social-gaming experience. Battle. net will be hosting the upcoming and highly anticipated RTS StarCraft II.
StarCraft II players will add Blizzard gamers who are their friends on Facebook to their Battle. net friend lists, in the first step. This will facilitate their social-gaming experience on the service.
Battle. net has been the playground for various releases of Blizzard titles, like Starcraft, Warcraft, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and the StarCraft II beta.
Chief Operating Officer of Blizzard Entertainment, Paul Sams, shared that with this new Facebook functionality, it will be easier to connect with friends on Battle. net and play StarCraft II and future Blizzard games together. It can be said that players of the future Diablo 3 will also enjoy the same Facebook-integrated feature.
Though, this functionality in Battle. net is currently is still undergoing testing. It will be made available to the continuing beta testers of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. It will be released with the game on July 27.
