Red Cross Emblem Misused According to IRCS

On Thursday, it was told by the Indian Red Cross Society that Red Cross emblem was being misused in the state. According to them, the public was not clear about the Red Cross emblem. In 2001 the Red Cross emblem campaign was held in Nagaland.

A press conference was held at Red Cross Building where Dr. R. Zinyu, MC member of IRCSN announced that the Red Cross emblem on white background was supposed to be used by authorized organizations. He also added that a few medical doctors and police personnel were unaware about the use and abuse of this emblem.

Dr. Zinyu also informed that after Jammu and Kasmir, Nagaland was the second state in the country to start the Red Cross emblem campaign. According to him the campaign was a complete success in Nagaland.

He added that the Red Cross emblem was abused in the form of transportation of arms and ammunitions, drugs, liquor etc. He said the situation would improve if these anti-social activities were checked.

It was told by Dr. S. I. Tushi Ao, MC member IRCSN that the Red Cross emblem was a neutral sign which meant protection of army medical services and members of the Red Cross movement. He also added that this sign was also used to mark medical and religious personnel and equipment in armed conflicts, military medical services, and means of transport.
