As many as 55,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals of the Ontario Nurses' Association, or ONA, are all set to celebrate Nursing Week 2010 with various events and activities to recognize and bring to light their special contribution to health care and the society as a whole.
In association with ONA's over 12,000 nursing student affiliates, nurses currently working in different hospitals, long-term care, public health, the community, clinics and the entire healthcare sector will be celebrating National Nursing Week which will be marked by visits from the ONA President and board members, in addition to a range of local activities.
The theme of ONA's 2010 Nursing Week is "Celebrate Our Nurses: The Heart of Health Care", and the event will run from May 10 to 16.
"Our nurses need to know that their hard work, dedication and professionalism is valued and recognized, and Nursing Week is the perfect time to do so. Our Nursing Week theme reflects the value our members bring to their patients, clients and residents every day", said ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN.
She shared that the celebration week, which marks Florence Nightingale's birthday, is the perfect opportunity to bring to light the many priceless contributions that nurses end up making during their service years.
