Andy Clarke is probably going to be appointed as the new Chief Executive of Asda, which is the US-owned supermarket, following his main competitor for the position renounced the industry previously this week.
The way has been left open for Mr. Clarke, the supermarket's Chief Operating Officer, in order to take on the best job after the unexpected resignation of Darren Blackhurst, his internal opponent for the position.
Asda has been on a look out for a new Chief Executive, ever since the previous month at the time when Andy Bond, in office, made announcement that he would welcome to take a part-time chairmanship role.
Mr. Bond stated that he wanted to inform real soon that he could take the role as soon as Darren Blackhurst left the service formerly this week.
The previous month, Judith McKenna, Asda's Chief Financial Officer, and David Cheesewright, who take care of Wal-Mart Canada, ruled themselves out of the administration, so as to replace Mr. Bond as chief executive.
Mr. Clarke's pending appointment is going to make him the second new chief executive of the big four supermarkets in current weeks. In the previous month, Dalton Philips joined Wm Morrison, which is the UK's fourth leading supermarket, as chief executive.
