Lilly Thoresen-Mckay

It was seen lately that Lilly Thoresen-Mckay, who is nine months old was successful in getting a liver transplant. They are from Palmerston and her parents are Luke Mckay and Tina Thoresena.

Last year, it was noticed that this nine month old, stole readers' hearts after she was given a slice of her father's liver in Auckland on Tuesday after the 12 hours operation.

Mr. Mckay said that she had got her colour back, and the whites of her eyes were white again.

It was told by the doctors that Lilly's old liver was a dark yellow, angry swollen thing and would be examined thoroughly to figure out what went wrong.

It was assumed by the doctors that it was biliary atresia, a congenital problem in which the bile ducts are not properly formed. According to them if the bile is not able to drain away, the toxins start building and damaging the liver. The damaged liver slowly starts poisoning the patient.

It was noticed that Lilly had spent most of her life in hospital. The parent fed her with a personalized formula through a naso-gastric tube so that she grew big and strong before the lifesaving transplant was done.

It was informed by Mr. Mckay that there could be there could be ups and downs in the next few weeks.
