Arizona Immigration Laws Spark Debate
Jan Brewer

Immigration laws in Arizona have sparked debate among human right activists and civil liberty advocates. They feel that the law is too severe and disregards the rights of people and does not care about their freedom. But supports of this law argue that it will help stop illegal immigration and help the native people of US.

A lot of debate has already taken place on these measures and residents feel that people coming from overseas are responsible for increasing law and order problems and straining the finances of the state. But it is not stopping civil liberty advocates to question these measures and terming them as arbitrary and draconian in nature.

Some are even comparing these to Pass Laws during South Africa’s apartheid era. Critics of this measure also feel that these will lead to increase in discrimination cases and can have a negative impact on the society.

US President Barack Obama has already criticized these measures and he favors using commonsense while passing measures like these. Bust most of the Americans support this legislation and feel that Arizona is doing the right thing. This is no doubt a very sensitive issue and can polarize most of the people.

It may be noted that Texas and Florida have already rejected similar measures. These measures are controversial but people also feel that but they feel that everyone should be treated equally by law.
